Viper SRT10 ACR

Viper SRT10 ACR

The American Club Racing (ACR) model was introduced in 1999. This model had suspension and engine enhancements focused on maximizing performance in road racing and autocross environments. Horsepower was, by the use of K&N air filters and smooth intake tubes, bumped to 460 hp (370 kW) in these models, while torque increased to 500 lb·ft (678 N·m). Weight was reduced by over 50 pounds (23 kg) by stripping the interior and removing other non-essential items such as the fog lamps (replacing them with brake ducts). The new stiffer, adjustable suspension removed another 14 pounds (6.4 kg) These models, which also have engine and handling modifications, has an "ACR" badge and 20-spoke BBS wheels.

A new ACR was added to the Viper line-up after the 2008 model year. Its upgrades were more drastic than the original, including street-legal racing tires, two-piece brake rotors, adjustable suspension, and significant aerodynamic revision. No engine modifications were made, so power and torque remain at 600 hp (450 kW) and 560 lb·ft (760 N·m) as in the base car. The ACR is street-legal, and is similar to the MOPAR Viper that Dodge displayed at various auto shows. Weight was also decreased by 80 lb (36 kg) by using the "Hardcore Package", without radio, speakers, amplifier, trunk carpet, hood pad or tire-inflator. Its aerodynamic upgrades produce 1000 lbf (4.4 kN) of down-force at 150 mph (240 km/h), or roughly 10 times the downforce the base Viper SRT-10 can produce at the same speed. The interior was upgraded only by the addition of a beacon-tripped lap timer.

The Viper ACR was built alongside the standard SRT-10 at the Conner Avenue plant in Detroit. The aerodynamic components were produced by Plasan Carbon Composites and assembled to the vehicle by Prefix Corporation located in Rochester Hills, Michigan

Polyester Screen cloth: Unaffected by most solvents, Polyester PETP (Polyester, Polyethylene Terephthalate) has good resistance to strong acids at room temperature and resists weak acids and alkalies even at high temperatures; strong alkalies can weaken it. UV resistance is good, but it tends toward a slight loss of tensile strength with prolonged exposure to sunlight. Lacks good hydrolysis resistance, but retention of properties after gamma radiation exposure is good. Deformation under low stress is minimal, but it can deform under high stress.

Day 70
Ah, yes, the carpet. No, this doesn't look a thing like the carpet we picked out in the showroom, does it? And...wait...I don't recall this being an option in the showroom.

A few days back, L&L called. They had a small problem. The appraisal had been let so they could not roll the carpet we picked out into the purchase price of the house. Oh yeah, and despite our contract to the contrary, they would NOT finance the carpet and needed payment by check or cash immediately or they would hold up carpet delivery and possibly delay settlement.

So, what did we do? The only thing we could do. We told them to keep their carpet, we will suffer through with the standard and give our business to the people we intended to give it to in the first place.

Boy am I glad I did that! After doing the math, I figured that they were probably over charging about $15 per square yard of carpet for medium quality stuff. And that's a ton when you consider that top quality carpet can be gotten for about $45 per yard.

Vranke van der Stockt, Madonna Enthroned with Saints John the Baptist, Peter, Cosmas, and Damian, ca. 1490

Painter: Vranke van der Stockt (Flemish, ca. 1420--1495)
Date: ca. 1490
Original location:
Collection:
Medium and size:
Literature: Brunard, Andree. 'Vrancke Van der Stockt (Successeur de Roger van der Weyden en qualite de peintre officiel de la Ville de Bruxelles).' In Bruxelles au XVme siecle, Brussels, 1953, pp. 73-84; Steinmetz, ' Das Altarretabel in der altniederlandischen Malerei. Untersuchung zur Darstellung einer sakralen Requisits vom fruhen 15. bis zum paten 16. Jahrhundert,' Weimar, 1995 (p. 143-144); Perier-D'Ieteren, C., 'The Dictionary of Art'. Vol. 29. Edited by Jane Turner. London and New York, 1996, pp. 691-93; De Vrij, ' Vrancke van der Stockt en het retabel van Ambierle,' in Jaarboek van het Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen, 1998, p. 209-231 (p. 224, 227). (attributed to Vrancke van der Stockt)

Notes: The painting was sold in Amsterdam at Sotheby's Mak van Waay Sale, 9 June 1977, lot 41. Formerly, it was held in Amsterdam, in the H.A. Wetzlar Collection. According to the online WGA, van der Stockt 'became a master in the Brussels Guild of St Luke in 1445 and in the same year inherited the workshop of his father, Jan van der Stockt (d. after 23 May 1444), where he had doubtless trained. In 1453 he witnessed a deed in the house of Rogier van der Weyden, which suggests that the two were friends and possibly collaborators. Van der Stockt succeeded van der Weyden as official painter to the town on the latter's death in 1464; in 1468 he worked in Bruges on the decorations for the wedding of Margaret of York and Charles the Bold. Van der Stockt was a town councillor in 1465, 1472 and 1475 and the head of the Confraternity of St Eloy from 1471 to 1473, both of which posts indicate the social standing he had achieved alongside his artistic activities. On 10 August 1489 he and his wife, Catherine de Moeyen, drew up their will, which mentions two sons, both painters. Bernaert van der Stockt (b. before 1469; d. after 1538) inherited two-thirds of the stock and drawings in the studio, the other third going to Michiel van der Stockt (b. before 1469). '

Gallery notes by M. E. Wieseman from the Allen Memorial Art Museum, Oberlin, Ohio, state: 'There are no documented paintings known by van der Stockt, but he is recognized as the most direct follower and popularizer of the art of Rogier van der Weyden. A fairly large, homogeneous group of works--both paintings and drawings--have been attributed to him based on their relationship to the Redemption triptych in the Museo del Prado, Madrid (inv. 1881-1892), first isolated and identified as a work by this follower of van der Weyden in the 1920s.'

The Road script

The Road script

The Weinstein Co.'s "The Road” is a trip through time starring Viggo Mortensen, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Robert Duvall and Charlize Theron.

"The Road" Takes Fresh Approach to Post-Apocalyptic Genre: Ever since God flooded out the entire human race in the early pages of Genesis, literature has abounded with stories of the apocalypse. For generation after generation, from The Book of Revelations to The Stand, we have obsessed over the end of the world, how it will come to pass, and what, if anything, we can do to stop it. Now that humankind has reached a point where the End could conceivably happen in an afternoon, our glimpses into this theoretical future are all the more intriguing. And they've never been more important.

The Road, directed by John Hillcoat (The Proposition) and based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy (No Country For Old Men), is a dark, poignant story of a father and son journeying through a post-apocalyptic wasteland, withstanding harsh weather, malnutrition, and under the constant threat of marauders, thieves and cannibals. Their goal is simple: to carry on.

Those looking to sink their teeth into mindless disaster-porn (not that there's anything wrong with that) can get their fix elsewhere. The Road is a smaller, more penetrating film that draws strength from its intimacy and its ability to do so much with so little.

Viggo Mortensen gives an emotional tour de force as the embattled father; look for him on the red carpet come March. I thought Kodi Smit-McPhee was impressive and genuine as the son, and takes on the task of being in literally every scene with rare fearlessness. Charlize Theron, Robert Duvall and Guy Pearce give small but highly memorable performances, Duvall in particular, whose portrayal of a withered old man journeying all alone will haunt you.

I received draft versions of this script in order to work on an aspect of pre-production of the film for The Weinstein Company. My highlight marks are on it exactly as I made them at that time. I have correspondence between me and the director and numerous staff and film personnel to corroborate my fact-checking about the production, update their bios, etc. I was hired to provide a service to the film before there was any footage to be seen. They sent me copies of the Final Shooting script and these were used for me to make notations in order to interview the actors and the producers.

Copies of this script are for sale elsewhere on the web. If any of my Flickr buddies is interested in obtaining one of mine, please contact me: noemedia@pacbell.net
